Dear friends,
Thank you so much for contributing to this project! With your support, it has been fully funded, and now we can confidently plan the year ahead, knowing that our kids and teens will continue to be nurtured by this unique and special library.
To improve the students' academic success and graduation rates, the after-school tutoring will continue for students of all ages, and we’ll also be able to offer more workshops and activities. Building on the success of our first endeavor to take the teens to an exhibition, we’ll keep working to safely and lovingly guide them out of their comfort zones—to experience art and challenge their minds, and to also get to know the city they live in. In the long-term, this program will help break the cycles of disadvantage and empower children to create brighter futures for themselves and their community.
We will leave you with something that happened a few days ago. Emma, our librarian, was chatting with one of the teens who comes to the library regularly. They were talking about school and friendships when the boy mentioned casually that a group of older kids in the neighborhood had recently chased him and his friends, making racist remarks. They were terrified and ran straight to the library. He said it so matter-of-factly, unaware of the impact of his words and the collective effort it has taken so many people to create a safe and inclusive space in this area.
Thank you—for without your support, none of this would be possible.
With immense gratitude,
