We are a sanctuary & rescue located in Corona, CA, USA. We rescue birds from abandonment, egg farms, cock-fighting rings & shelters. We are committed to giving all of them, regardless of their background or physical/emotional damage, their lives back via veterinary care, socialization, and new, carefully screened forever homes where they will be loved as they should be. We also provide education to the general public, highlighting the therapeutic qualities that chickens can bring to one's life.
We serve one of the most neglected and undermined sectors of animal rescue: domestic fowl. Ex-battery hens are arguably the most tormented creatures on earth. While their prolonged miserable existence is widely known, there is nowhere near the resources in the US to help them. Roosters systematically suffer horrible fates of their own--killed or dumped at alarming rates for simply being born male, or used in cockfighting. Ducks are geese are dumped and left to die when no longer wanted.
Every animal who comes into our care, regardless of species/gender, famous or not, gets a fair chance at life, and is treated as the individual we see looking back at us. For this reason, we provide the best possible individualized (diagnostic and vet) care to every animal. In our latest rescue, more than 25% of the 350 ex-battery hens suffered issues ranging from broken limbs to ruptured organs to chronic infections. Since we are entirely volunteer-run, every dollar goes directly to the animals
Our goal is to medically/socially rehabilitate each bird and secure safe, forever homes for those adoptable so more birds may be rescued. We run the only chicken rescue in SoCal and are sadly one of the few organizations devoted to help roosters. We have successfully integrated many roosters, even ex-fighters, over time, into flocks. We believe all birds deserve to live, and that our education & outreach efforts will help others understand what loving and therapeutic companions chickens can be.
