Vision Health International will provide eye exams, fit eyeglasses, perform life-altering surgeries, and improve the vision health for 1000 adults and children in medically under-served regions in and around La Entrada, Honduras.
Severe or even moderate vision impairment can mean the loss of economic and educational opportunity. Poverty, coupled with a scarcity of vision health care professionals (there are 100 ophthalmologists currently serving 8,000,000 Hondurans) means tens of thousands are left without access to treatment. Direct patient care provided by Vision Health International will result in thousands receiving the vision health care they so urgently need.
During field programs to La Entrada, Honduras, Vision Health International volunteers will address the overwhelming need for accessible and affordable vision health care in this region of the country.
With vision improved or restored, 1000 adults and children--and their families--will be able to return to work or to school. They will be able to sew again or to read again, and they will be able to re-enter a meaningful life with their families and communities. These patients will regain hope for a brighter and better future.
