Through the June Accelerator at GlobalGiving we raised funds to install a COLD ROOM at the Dining Room for senior citizens San Pedro Claver. Once the COLD ROOM is installed, the dining room needs ongoing support to provide healthy food for the 70-80 seniors who daily come to the center.
At the moment the dining room has several old appliances which continually break down and are costly to repair. The cost of repairing these old appliances diminishes their monthly food budget and risks wasting food that spoils. The new COLD ROOM will provide a reliable and energy efficient appliance to store food at the right temperature.
The project will provide a cold room that will replace all the old appliances, be energy efficient and dependable for food storage.
The Dining Room serves daily 70-80 very low income seniors. It also serves as a community center for the seniors since it provides fellowship and activities for many of them who are alone. The Dining Room also offers low-cost meals for the personnel at the adjacent San Pedro Claver Medical Center.
